After graduating in 2019 with a degree in Communications and Digital Media Studies, she did a year of service with Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest. During her time at Saint Joseph’s University she volunteered at the Welcome Center for three semesters teaching English and Citizenship classes. Sam is not a stranger to the SSJ Welcome Center. We welcome Samantha ‘Sam’ Henry as our Grant Writer and Event Coordinator. Sam Henry: Coordinator of Special Events and Grant Writer She has an M.ED in Language Arts from Arcadia University and she also has a certificate in ESL teaching from ICAL TEFL an online education site. The last fourteen years she has taught English as a Second Language at the Sisters of Saint Joseph Welcome Center She has worked as an elementary school teacher as well as a middle school principal. She has served at the Welcome Center since 2003. Sister Pat is a Sister of Saint Joseph of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA. Sister Pat Madden: Coordinator of Literacy and Technology She credits her enthusiasm to serve at the Welcome Center with her diverse summer experiences from Maryknoll. in Theology from LaSalle University, and ESL certificates from TESOL. Her prior ministries include secondary education positions in Philadelphia and Wilmington. Joseph from Chestnut Hill, is a newcomer to the Welcome Center. Nancy has a Master’s degree in Social Work. She also serves as the coordinator of citizenship preparation classes. Accredited by the Department of Justice, Nancy helps our dear neighbors with a variety of immigration legal matters. Three years later, she became a full-time member of the staff. Nancy first started working at the Welcome Center as a full-time volunteer in 2006. Nancy Bordewick: Coordinator of Immigration Service Sister Marian is an alumna of Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA and Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was founding director of the SSJ Literacy Project and has also served as an elementary school principal and teacher. She oversees finances and maintains the care of the two buildings. She is so happy to be able to minister among so many wonderful people. She coordinated the Literacy program at the Center and as of August 2017 assumes the role of Director of the Center.
